Guidelines
Grants are made from Newsday Charities in response to applications from 501(c)3
organizations located in Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island. Newsday Charities focuses on programs and activities that primarily seek to enhance opportunities for children and youth in at-risk environments.
Primary Interests
- Programs for children and young people that create opportunities for positive social, emotional, educational and intellectual development.
- Prevention programs designed to inhibit the incidence of risk-related behavior and empower young people to build productive lives.
- Essential needs such as food, clothing and shelter.
- Student and family literacy programs
Application Procedures
All requests require a completed application form available directly from Newsday Charities. It takes 3-4 months from the date of submission for an application to be decided upon. There is no guarantee of annual support.
Limitations
Grants are not made to government entities, foundations or other regranting organizations, or for capital fund drives.
The McCormick Foundation does not make grants to programs that would financially benefit Tribune Company or any of its subsidiaries.
